AUSTIN IRVING / PORTALS
CURIO Studio & Collection is very proud to present AUSTIN IRVING / PORTALS, a new collection of conceptually dynamic photography.
This is Austin Irving's first solo exhibition at CURIO Studio & Collection. One to watch, this talented artist-on-the-rise hails from New York and now lives and works in Los Angeles. In previous group shows, photographs from her BACKLIT series received high praise and attention from art critics and collectors alike.
Now, with PORTALS, the photographer turns her focus to the allure of the unknown. Austin Irving's subjects become symbolic "portals" - ominous openings, mysterious doors and hallowed paths whose destinations lay curiously just out of sight. Like the burning desire to pull aside a theater curtain, these images are quietly powerful and thought provoking.
Using light, line and color, the artist negotiates transitions of space, creating strong and compelling compositions. Irving presents an exhibition of thoughtful and alluring photographs that stand strong both alone and together, as a carefully curated collection of works.
AUSTIN IRVING / PORTALS opens to the public Saturday, March 3, 2012, 7-10pm, on exhibit through April 7th 2012. This art event is generously sponsored by PAMA Liquor, Blackheart Spiced Rum, Izze, and Hynotiq.
